Having successfully built up The New Union in Huddersfield we decided it was time for a new challenge. We decided it was time to look at taking the successful mix of freshly cooked food, top DJ’s playing chart and party tunes and great prices to a new location.
After looking at several possible pubs in various towns, non of which came close to what we were looking for, we found The Slug & Fiddle in Wakefield.

 

When we first saw The Slug & Fiddle it was a mess and needed a lot of work doing before it would be up to the standard we require but we could see there was potential. After refurbishment we opened on March 1st 2007. The Pub was an instant success and took us by surprise from day one.

 

Since the New Union Wakefield opened, it has gone from strength to strength and plays a valuable part in the Wakefield gay day and night scene. It has great mixture of young and old and the atmosphere is brilliant, we’re open from early until late and whatever your mood and whatever the time of the day, our aim is to make you will feel very welcome at the New Union
